IHAHATAW ng Katayama Baseball Academy (KBA) sa pangunguna ni founding president Keiji Katayama ang kanilang outreach program para i-promote ang sport ng baseball sa grassroot level partikular sa countryside.
Ang mga kabataang potensyal na baseball players mula La Paz sa lalawigan ng Tarlac ang buwenamanong beneficiaries ng Katayama’s project na naglalayong makapaglaro ang mga bata na kumpleto sa kagamitan mula headgears vests, gloves hanggang bats at balls.
“With proper venue, equipment and knowledge in the game, Filipinos can excell in this sport that height is not might. Let’s start them young,” saad ni Katayama, isang Japanese national na nakabase na sa Pilipinas. Itinakda ni Katayama ang turnover ceremony na suportado nina Concepcion, Tarlac ABC president Capt. Noel ‘Bong’ Rivera, Sama – Sama Sports(Tarlac) official Mhay Sonza at Municipality of La Paz Mayor Venustiano Jordan bilang punong-abala, sa susunod na buwan sa Macabulos Recreational and Ballpark.
Si Katayama na varsity baseball player (second baseman ng powerhouse Kansai University) sa kanyang balwarte sa Himeji City, Hyogo, Japan noong kanyang collegiate playing days ay kasalukuyang miyembro ng coaching staff ng 30th Southeast Asian Games Philippines 2019 men’s baseball gold medalist na PH IX at team owner ng KBA Stars sa Maynila. Naglaro rin si Keiji sa team (champion) Manila Sharks sa semi-pro league Baseball Philippines gayundin bilang assistant coach ng University of the Philippines baseball team sa Universities Athletic Association of the philippines (UAAP).
“After the world’s health experts struckout the pandemic corona virus and with go signal from IATF, we will push through in conducting baseball clinics along with our selected national team players to actual competitions in venues that were already declared safe and covid- free like Tarlac,” dagdag ni Katayama- kasalukuyang executive ng isang multi- national company sa Muntinlupa City. “I love to see adult and kid baseball players swinging back to diamond come normal situation.”(Danny Simon)
