Fire Protection Modernization Bill, suportado ni Bong Go

SUPORTADO ni Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go ang Fire Protection Modernization Bill na magpapalakas sa mandato at kapabilidad ng Bureau of Fire Protection.

Bilang pangunahing may akda ng nasabing panukala, sinabi ng senador na ito ang tamang panahon para imordenisa ang BFP sa pagsasasabing dapat maging proactive ang pamahalaan sa paglaban sa iba’t ibang sakuna sa bansa.

“I have the honor to co-sponsor the Fire Protection Modernization Bill, which seeks to establish a Fire Protection Modernization Program to be implemented by the Bureau of Fire Protection,” ani Go.

“Thus, it is fitting that our firefighters at the frontlines be given the best tools to ensure their own safety and the safety of our fellow countrymen,” dagdag niya.

Pinuri ni Go ang kapwa Davaoeño na si Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, chairman ng Senate committee on public order sa pagbibigay prayoridad sa nasabing bill.

“I laud my fellow Davaoeño, Senator Bato dela Rosa, and this august chamber for prioritizing this vital measure to help our countrymen,” ani Go.

Sa ilalim ng Fire Protection Modernization Bill, ang BFP ang magiging responsable sa pagpapatupad ng fire protection modernization program na magbebenepisyo, hindi lang sa mga mga bumbero, kundi maging sa publiko.

Nakapaloob sa panukala ang pagkuha pa ng mga personnel, pagbili ng mga modernong fire equipment at training sa firefighters.

Mandato rin ng BFP na magsagawa ng buwanang fire prevention campaigns at information drive sa local government units.

“In 2019, more than 16,000 fire incidents were reported throughout the country. These hazards were not only destructive to property but have even resulted to a number of deaths in a matter of minutes,” ani Go kaya kinakailangan nang maisabatas ang nasabing bill.

“Ako po mismo ay saksi sa hinagpis na nararamdaman ng ating mga kababayan na biktima ng mga sunog. Labis ang kirot na nararamdaman ng aking puso sa tuwing nakakakita ako ng mga pamilyang Pilipino na nawawalan ng bahay at mga mahal sa buhay dahil lamang sa mga sakunang gaya ng sunog na maaari namang maiwasan,” anang senador.
