PINAKAKASUHAN ng Senate Committee of the Whole ng kasong kriminal sina Health Secretary Francisco Duque III at iba pang dati at kasalukuyang opisyal ng Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) kaugnay sa sinasabing anomalya sa state health insurer.
Bukod kay Duque, kabilang din si PhilHealth president Ricardo Morales at ilan pang executive officers ng insurance agency na dapat kasuhan dahil sa paglabag sa Articles 217 at 220 ng Revised Penal Code and the Anti-Graft at Corrupt Practices Act dahil umano sa malversation of public funds bunsod ng “improper and illegal implementation of the Interim Reimbursement Mechanism (IRM),” o cash advances sa health care institutions.
“We are in the middle of a pandemic and we should not change horses mid-stream… However, it may be a worse course of action for this August chamber to sit idly by knowing how mismanaged PhilHealth is,” wika ni Senate President Vicente Sotto III sa kanyang sponsorship speech sa plenaryo.
“PhilHealth is hemorrhaging because of [the] inefficient running of the corporation, compounded by the corrupt practices inside,” giit ni Sotto.
Kabilang din sa pinakakasuhan na mga opisyal sina PhilHealth executive vice president and chief operating officer Arnel De Jesus, senior vice president for fund management sector Renato Limsiaco Jr., and senior vice president for health finance policy sector Israel Pargas. (Mylene Alfonso)
