Senatorial candidate Camille Villar vowed to continue projects that will benefit the agriculture sector and further improve infrastructure in the country once she is elected as senator in May.
This developed as first district Lanao del Norte Rep. Khalid Dimaporo and his team expressed support to Camille Villar’s senatorial bid during a visit in Tubod, Lanao del Norte on Tuesday.
Rep. Dimaporo urged his constituents to support Camille Villar in the upcoming May elections during one of the sorties.
Gov. Imelda “Angging” Dimaporo also endorsed Camille Villar’s bid in another gathering of supporters.
Upon invitation of the Dimaporos, Camille Villar met with local mayors and candidates in the province, outlining her platform of legislative agenda, projects and advocacies.
In her speech, Camille Villar cited the importance of improving agriculture, through trainings and equipment upgrade, to make it more appealing to the next generation of farmers.
She also noted how the government needs to modernize agriculture to make it more productive, ensuring food security in the country.
Camille Villar also put importance on how infrastructure boosts progress, not just in Mindanao, but all over the country.
In one of her meet and greet session with local mayors, Camille Villar cannot help but mention that her mother, Sen. Cynthia Villar, currently the chairperson of the Senate committee on agriculture, prioritized funding for the agriculture sector.
The senator had allocated over P200-million worth of agricultural machines and financial help to over 71 cooperatives in Lanao del Norte alone, said Camille Villar.
When her brother, Senator Mark Villar, was secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways, Camille said he was instrumental in the construction of the 3.77-kilometer Pangil Bay Bridge that connects Tangub in Misamis Occidental and Tubod in Lanao del Norte, reducing travel time between the two towns.
For these reasons, Camille Villar said she would continue pursuing projects that will ensure the welfare of those in the agriculture and infrastructure sectors- in addition to her advocacies for the youth, mothers, senior citizens and Overseas Filipino Workers.
