“So now he claims the Senate is in recess, his own doing, and cannot move. And now that a big group is out to get 1 million signatures, he is saying clamor won’t do. So why is Chiz protecting somebody who has been accused of pocketing billions of pesos and threatening to have the President and the First Lady killed?” ayn sa isang tagamasid sa takbo ng pulitika ng bansa.

“Is it because he is salivating at a Sara-Chiz tandem in 2028 with unlimited Chinese money to finance their campaign?” aniya. Dahil hindi prayoridad ni Tsis ang paggupo sa crime prevention at law enforcement, “all criminals must celebrate because the Pogo gangs, those who built the collapsed bridge in Isabela, the corrupt in government, killers of ordinary people should enjoy the same treatment as Sara is getting from Chiz”, aniya.

Basahin:

Senate had two more session days to act on impeachment, but it chose to close early– Khonghun

HOUSE Assistant Majority Leader Jay Khonghun of Zambales has pointed out that the Senate had two more session days to act on the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, but it chose to adjourn early instead of addressing the matter.

Khonghun was responding to Sen. Cynthia Villar’s statement that the impeachment complaint was transmitted on Feb. 5, which she claimed was the last day of session. He clarified that based on Concurrent Resolution No. 22, the last session day before recess was Feb. 7.

Khonghun explained that the House of Representatives acted swiftly and in accordance with legislative rules to ensure the immediate transmittal of the Articles of Impeachment.

But Khonghun clarified that even if the Senate was not in session, an impeachment complaint is a very urgent constitutional issue that should have been taken up and resolved immediately.

He made it clear that the purpose of raising this issue is not to blame anyone but to set the record straight, noting that the House followed the correct process. Khonghun asked.

He added that the House had done its part, and it is now up to the Senate to fulfill its constitutional duty as the impeachment court.

Khonghun also raised concerns over the delays caused by Senate President Francis Chiz Escudero’s proposed impeachment schedule, which sets the trial in July – months after the transmittal of the articles. “The issuance of Special Order No. 2025-015 is a welcome move because it recognizes the Senate’s duty to hold an impeachment trial. Pero ang tanong, bakit kailangang patagalin? Hindi ba’t ang Saligang Batas mismo ang nagsasabing ‘forthwith’ dapat itong simulan?” he pointed out.

He warned that delaying the trial opens the door for political maneuvering and erodes public trust in the impeachment process. “Impeachment is about accountability. Delays only allow political interference. The Senate has a duty to act,” he stressed.

Khonghun urged the Senate to act swiftly and decisively, emphasizing that the Filipino people deserve a fair and transparent impeachment trial without excuses or delays. “The House has done its job. Now, it’s time for the Senate to prove that it respects the Constitution and values the Filipino people’s right to accountability. Huwag nating gawing pulitika ang isang napakahalagang proseso,”Khonghun said.
