HINDI malaman kung buo ang loob ni Chiz Escudero sa isyu ng impeachment trial ni Sara Duterte. Paiba-iba ang statement ni Chiz. Noong isinumite ng Camara de Representante ang sakdal na impeachment laban kay Sara, sinabi agad ni Chiz na hindi niya agad pupulungin ang Senado. Iba ang unawa niya sa salita ng Konstitusyon tungkol kung kailan at paano pupulungin ang Senado bilang impeachment court.

Ibang-iba ang unawa ni Chiz sa salitang “forthwith.” Hindi kailangan na agaran pupulungin ang Senado bilang impeachment court. Para sa kanya, maaaring ipagpaliban ito sa panahon na gusto ng Senado. Hindi sang-ayon ang maraming mambabatas, dating mahistrado, at kahit ang isang dating mahistrado na kabilang sa komisyon na gumawa Saligang Batas. Pinagtawanan si Chiz sa kanyang interpretasyon ng salita ng Konstitusyon.

Agad-agad at walang pagpapaliban – ito ang salita ng mga kongresista na kasamang lumagda sa impeachment ni Sara. Malinaw na hindi maaaring ipagpaliban sa panahon ng gusto ng Senado na pulungin ang sarili bilang impeachment court, ani Antonio Carpio, retiradong mahistrado ng Korte Suprema. Mali si Chiz sa kanyang unawa dahil ang ibig sabihin ng “forthwith” at agad-agad, ani Adolf Azcuna, isa sa mga nagpanday sa Saligang Batas ng 1987.

Mistulang nagipit sa isang sulok si Chiz. Biglang kumambiyo dahil nag-iisa lang siya sa kanyang opinyon. Lumambot, nag-isip, at umurong si Chiz. Kagyat na nagpahayag na maaaring pulungin na ang Senado, ngunit hindi ito ibang uri ng impeachment, aniya. Hindi ito malalayo sa ibang impeachment na naihatag sa Senado.

Hindi namin alam kung ano ang ibig sabihin ni Chiz. Sa amin, bistado ang kulay ng kanyang salawal. Nabisto siya na may pagkiling sa mga Duterte, lalo na si Sara. Hindi kami nagtataka dahil dati siyang bata ni Gongdi. Isa siya sa mga sumuporta sa labis na madugo pero palpak na giyera kontra droga ni Gongdi. May dugo sa kanyang kamay.

Hindi kami bilib kay Chiz dahil batid namin na isa siyang oportunista. Wala siyang pagmamahal sa bayan at tanging ang sarili ang mahal. Kung kami ang tatanungin, dapat siyang palitan ng mas karapat-dapat. Ang malaking problema ay walang kuwalipikado sa kasalukuyang Senado na binubuo ng mga artista, celebrity, at pipitsuging nilalang.

HINDI natatapos ang pangangalap ng ebidensya laban kay Sara na kasalukuyang nahaharap sa impeachment trial sa Senado. Huwag maniniwala kay Sara sa kanyang pahayag na hindi siya nababahala sa impeachment laban sa kanya. House Blue Ribbon Committee urged to probe P12.3B COA-flagged DepEd funds, eyed as fresh evidence in VP Sara’s impeachment

HOUSE Assistant Majority Leader and Zambales 1st District Rep. Jay Khonghun is urging the House Blue Ribbon Committee to include the Commission on Audit’s (COA) latest findings on P12.3 billion in alleged unsettled financial transactions at the Department of Education (DepEd) in its ongoing investigation, arguing that it strengthens the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.

COA’s 2023 annual audit report flagged DepEd’s alleged failure to settle massive notices of suspension, disallowance, and charge, which reached P12.3 billion by the end of Duterte’s term as education secretary. The amount increased from P11.4 billion in 2022, indicating little to no progress in resolving the flagged transactions.

“The red flags keep piling up. First, it was P125 million in confidential funds spent in just 11 days at the Office of the Vice President (OVP). Now, COA has flagged over P12 billion in unresolved transactions at DepEd under Duterte’s leadership. This isn’t just an oversight—it’s a pattern of seemingly financial mismanagement,” Khonghun said.

The Blue Ribbon panel, formally known as the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, previously investigated the OVP’s rapid expenditure of P125 million in confidential funds over an 11-day period in December 2022.

Further scrutiny revealed that 1,322 of 1,992 listed recipients of these funds lacked birth records, raising concerns about possible fabrication of acknowledgment receipts.

Similarly, the committee examined DepEd’s use of P112.5 million in confidential funds. The Philippine Statistics Authority found that 405 of 677 listed recipients had no birth records, adding to concerns about the authenticity of these transactions.

These investigations contributed to the filing of multiple impeachment complaints against Duterte, citing allegations of graft, corruption, and betrayal of public trust.
