8 gold medals mawawala sa Pilipinas sa 2025 SEA Games sa Thailand

WALONG potensyal gold medals ang mawawala sa Pilipinas sa 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) sa susunod na taon kapag tinanggal ng host Thailand ang weightlifting, wushu, jiu-jitsu, at karate sa kanilang 40-sport program.

“We already appealed to the Thai hosts the inclusion of weightlifting, wushu, jiu-jitsu, and karate,” Wika ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino Martes.

“And it’s not only the Philippines which appealed, but a majority of the games’ members,” dagdag ni Tolentino, na dumalo sa SEA Games Federation meeting sa Bangkok nakaraang Linggo.



Ang 2025 SEA Games ay gaganapin sa Bangkok, , Chonburi, at Songkhla, Thailand mula Disyembre 9 to 20.

Jiu-jitsu’s Kaila Napolis, Annie Ramirez, at Marc Lim; wushu’s Agatha Wong; karate’s Jamie Lim at Sakura Alforte; at weightlifting’s Erleen Ando at Vanessa Sarno nagdeliver ng gold medals sa 32nd SEA Games sa Cambodia nakaraang taon.

“We will lose a lot of gold medals if the appeal won’t be granted,” Sambit ni Tolentino, na sinamahan sa meeting ni POC secretary general Wharton Chan, deputy secretary-general Ali Sulit ng judo, Don Caringal ng volleyball, Karen Tanchangco-Caballero ng sepak takraw, at Carl Sambrano ng skateboard.

Ang Pilipins ay sasabak sa lahat ng 40 medals sports sa Thailand pero hindi sa demonstration sports tug-of-war at flying disc or frisbee.

Ang POC ay wala pang napisil na chef de mision ng Team Philippines para sa 2025 Games.
