5 triathletes pasok sa Top 10 ng Asian U23 at Junior Champs

IMPRESIBO ang naging resulta ng Pilipinas matapos ang limang triathletes ay nakapasok sa Top 10 ng 2023 Asia triathlon U23 at Junior Championship sa Gamagori,Japan ngayong Linggo.

Pinangunahan ni Andrew Remolino ang pangkat sa seventh-place finish sa men’s U23 class, may tiyempong 59 minutes at 27 seconds sa 750-meter swim,20km bike, 5km run race.

Ang 32nd Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist nagtapos sa likuran ng eventual champion Robin Elg ng HongKong (57:44) silver winner Tzu 1 Pan ng Chinese Taipei (57:54) at third placer Jason Tai Long Ng taga HongKong rin (58:15).

Samantala si Raven Alcoseba, ay lumapag sa ninth sa women’s U23 sa oras na 1:06:02, mahigit dalawang minuto sa tabi ni gold medalist Lu Meiyi ng China (1:04:11)

Sa juniors division, Matthew Hermosa napunta sa seventh sa men’s side sa 1:01:51, mas mabagal ng 3 minuto sa gold medalist Alexander Ten ng Kazakhstan, may oras na 58:40.

Sinabi ni TRAP President Tom Carrasco ang Asian tournament ay bahagi ng association’s selection process para sa PH team na sasabak sa 19th Asian Games sa Hangzhou,China ngayong Setyembre.

“This is part of our long-term program to maximize exposure in world class competitions and high performance training camps for our triathletes with high potential,” Wika ni Carrasco.

“Their performances in these events will likewise be a basis for selection to the Asian Games in Hangzhou plus the results of the recent Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia,” Tugon ni Carrasco.
