“I vehemently condemn the assassination of Leninsky Bacud, former barangay chairman of Barangay 435, Zone 44 in Sampaloc and Third Nominee of Ang Bumbero ng Pilipinas (ABP) Party-list.” Ito ang opisyal na pahayag ni Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, matapos pagbabarilin ang dating chairman.

Agad din nagpahatid ng pakikiramay ang lady mayor sa pamilya ng biktima. “My deepest condolences go to Chairman Bacud’s grieving family.”

Sinabi pa ng alkalde na: “The City of Manila stands with those who have served our people. I assure the Bacud family and all Manileños that we will do everything in our power to bring all those responsible to justice.”

“They will answer for the violent death of Leninsky Bacud. Hindi natin papayagang mamayani ang takot at karahasan sa ating lungsod. Maninindigan tayo para sa katarungan at kaayusan sa Lungsod ng Maynila,” ayon pa sa alkalde

Kaugnay nito ay nagbigay na na direktiba si Lacuna kay Manila Police District Director, PBGen Benigno Guzman, na:

1. Mobilize all available resources and lead a thorough, impartial, and relentless investigation into this murder-assassination case.

2. Ensure that every angle is pursued and that the investigation results in the identification, arrest, and prosecution of all perpetrators, including the mastermind, financier, and co-conspirators.

3. Provide regular, detailed updates to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and my office on every development in the case.

4. Guarantee the safety of witnesses and the Bacud family throughout the investigation and prosecution process.

“Violence must have no place in a civil society. This assassination does not represent who Manileños are, nor does it define the City of Manila, ” ayon pa kaya Lacuna.

Inatasan din ng aIkalde ang DILG at ang Peace and Order Council

“I am instructing DILG Manila City Director John Visca and the Manila Peace and Order Council to:

1. Immediately issue a memorandum to all barangays, reiterating the urgent need for the strict maintenance of peace and order, especially during this election season.

2. Ensure that all barangay CCTVs, response equipment, and communication devices are fully operational and manned 24/7 by trained personnel.

3. Direct all barangays to intensify the regular patrolling and visibility of tanods and peacekeeping teams, especially in areas identified as election hotspots.

4. Convene emergency meetings with barangay officials to review and strengthen community alert systems and preventive measures against violence.

5 Coordinate closely with the Manila Police District and other law enforcement agencies to monitor and respond swiftly to any threats or incidents that may compromise public safety.

6. The DILG is further directed to report to my office any lapses or non-compliance by barangays, and to recommend immediate corrective actions.

Nanawagan din si Lacuna sa lahat ng mga Manileños na maging mapagpatyag, i-report ang mga suspicious activities, at makipagtulungan sa mga awtoridad.

“Let us show that Manila stands united against violence and will always uphold peace, justice, and the rule of law, ” saad pa ni Lacuna. (ANDI GARCIA)
