Citing Benguet’s big potential as tourism destination, millennial senatorial candidate Camille Villar vowed to push more projects that will further promote the province and the rest of the Cordillera Autonomous Region (CAR) as a major travel destination in the country.
Speaking at the 113th Founding Anniversary of Itogon on Thursday, Camille Villar expressed her admiration to its people, its rich history and natural resources.
She committed to continue projects that will promote progress in the region, noting how the completion of Labey-Lacamen Road Project in Tublay, Benguet and the Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablay-Tuba-Tublay (BLISTT) Outer Ring Circumferential Toad have eased the travel time between the northern areas of the Cordilleras to the Cagayan Valley Region.
Such roads make travelling from Cagayan Valley to Benguet more accessible, especially to local tourists who want to experience the beauty of the Atok Flower Gardens, Sagada Caves, La Trinidad Strawberry Farms, among other tourist attractions.
Mt. Pulag, the third highest mountain in the Philippines, is located in the provinces of Benguet, Ifugao and Nueva Vizcaya.
Camille Villar also cited the bypass road connecting Kennon and Loakan Airport, dubbed as “Great Wall of Baguio City”, providing easier access to major areas in the region.
She also vowed to continue projects spearheaded by her mother, Sen. Cynthia Villar, such as the grants for the construction of composting facilities in the eight of the 13 municipalities in the province.
“Sisiguraduhin po nating kaisa niyo ako sa mga hangarin niyo para sa rehiyon ng CAR. Ako po ang magiging boses ninyo sa senado para magtuloy-tuloy nag mga proyektong magpapaunlad hindi lamang dito sa inyong bayan kungdi para sa ating buong bansa,” Camille Villar said.
During her visit, Camille Villar also met with Gov Melchor Diclas, Vice Governor Rose Fongwan, Rep. Eric Yap, Buguias Mayor Dione Baucas, Kapangan Mayor Mayo Islay, Tuba Mayor Clarita Salongan, Atok Mayor Franklin Smith, Tublay Mayor Totoy Cosalan, Bakun Mayor Bill Raymundo, La Trinidad Mayor Roderick Awingan, Itogon Mayor Bernard Waclin, Kabayan Mayor Rex Aquisan, Kibungan Mayor Ed Nitron, and Sablan Mayor Alfredo Dacumos at La Trinidad, Benguet.
The youngest among the senatorial candidates, Camille Villar has been pushing for livelihood and job creation as part of her advocacies, in addition to promoting women empowerment, gender equality, and education.
She also batted to put forward housing and infrastructure developments.
