Senado sa SC: No comment sa impeachment

HINILING ng liderato ng Senado sa Korte Suprema na kung maari ay hindi na sila magsumite ng komento hinggil sa impeachment case laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte dahil sila ay magsisilbing impeachment court.

Sa tatlong-pahinang manipestasyon, iginiit ng Senado na wala umano silang alegasyon laban kay VP Sara.

Ang tanging kapangyarihan lamang nila ay ang magsagawa ng pagdinig at desisyunan ang mga kaso ng impeachment na napapaloob sa Konstitusyon.

“Respondent Senate, which has the sole power to try and decide all cases of impeachment under the Constitution, cannot therefore possibly make a comment on the Petition and thus, asks the Honorable Court that it be excused from submitting the Comment required under above said Resolution,” ayon sa binasang manifestation.

Noong Pebrero 25, naglabas ng kautusan ang Supreme Court na pinagkokomento ang Senado sa impeachment case ng bise presidente.

Matatandaang sa petisyon ni Duterte na inihain sa Korte Suprema noong Pebrero ay kinuwestyon niya ang validity at constitutionality ng reklamong impeachment laban sa kanya. (Mylene Alfonso)
