500 preso sa NBP nilipat sa Zamboanga City

Nasa 500 persons deprived of liberty (PDL) ang inilipat mula sa New Bilibid Prison (NBP) patungo sa San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm sa Zamboanga City, ayon sa Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) nitong Huwebes.

Sinabi ng BuCor, dumating ang mga PDL sa San Ramon penal farm noong Miyerkoles.

Ayon pa sa ahensiya, sa 500 PDL, 147 ay mula sa NBP Maximum Security Camp, 153 mula sa Medium Security Camp, at 200 mula sa Reception and Diagnostic Center.

“The transfer of PDLs to various operating and prison farms nationwide is part of Bucor’s program to address overcrowding in the NBP and in preparation for the eventual closure of the correction facility in 2028,” anang BuCor sa isang pahayag.

Sinamahan ang mga PDL ng 150 corrections officers na may augmentation mula sa Philippine National Police Patrol at Armed Forces of the Philippines.

Samantala, sinabi naman ni BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. na nagsagawa rin ng groundbreaking ceremony ang Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm para sa pagtatayo ng P272 milyong pasilidad na maaaring mag-accommodate ng 500 PDLs.
