BI nagbabala laban sa paglaganap ng fake social media accounts

Nagbabala si Bureau of Immigration Chief Norman Tansingco laban sa paglaganap ng fake social media accounts sa Facebook gamit ang mga larawan at imprmation ng mga empleyado ng BI at ginagamit pa ang official seal ng ahensiya para ligawin ang publiko na makipag-transaksyon.

Ani Tansingco, may mga ulat na ginagamit ng mga scammers ang mga pekeng social media accounts para magpanggap na personnel ng BI.

“These scammers reportedly disguise as immigration lawyers and legal officers. They create profiles using photos of our employees, their badges, and even the logo of the bureau,” ani Tansingco.

Aniya, ang mga BI employees ay hindi awtorisadong makipagtransaksyon sa labas ng BI facilities at hindi oras ng opisina.

“There have been reports in the past where fake social media profiles have fueled scams and have gotten people duped out of money,” pahayag ni Tansingco.

“It is illegal to assume the identity of others, more so to demand money from anyone using the government’s name. The BI strongly warns the public against internet acquaintances. Remain keen to avoid being victimized,” dagdag pa nito.

Nakipagpulong na umano si Tansingco sa Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) ukol sa nasabing isyu. (JERRY S. TAN)
