Mark Nonoy, Deo Cuajao tinanggap ng Green Archers

MAGILIW na tinanggap ng De La Salle University kahapon sina Mark Nonoy at Deo Cuajao, na lumipat mula sa University of Santo Tomas (UST).
Umalis sina Nonoy at Cuajao sa UST men’s basketball program dahil sa “Sorsogon bubble” controversy. Sila ang pinakahuling player na umalsa mula sa Espanya, kasunod ng pag-alis ng dating team captain CJ Cansino at rising star Rhenz Abando, at iba pa.
Kasama si Jackson Chua, presidente ng Team Phenom Sports, lumipad sina Nonoy at Cuajao patungong Davao City upang makipagkita sa bagong backer ng De La Salle men’s basketball team, Atty. Mans Carpio.
Carpio, na produkto ng La Salle, ay malaki ang papel na ginam-panan sa pag-recruit kina Nonoy at Cuajao, at dating National University high school star Kevin Quiambao para sa Green Archers.
“Through the years, La Salle has become one of the biggest and proudest collegiate basketball programs in the country,” pahayag ni Carpio.
“My goal is to open the doors of the school to more homegrown players who cannot afford to study there through sports,” dagdag pa nya “That is the true meaning of the Animo spirit.”
Nonoy at Cuajao ay naglaro ng buong season sa Growling Tigers, si Nonoy ay biglang sumikat matapos mag-average ng 11.1 points, 3.83 rebounds, at 2.78 assists para masungkit ang Rookie of the Year honors.
Samantala, si Cuajao may average na 13 points sa kanyang first season sa UST pero nakitaan ng potential sa Tigers habang naglalaro sa PBA D-League, ay nag average ng 17.5 points, 56.3% from beyond the arc sa dalawang laro.
Ang dalawang players ay tatagal ng isang taon bago maging eligible para sa Green Archers sa season 84.
