IIEE first Chess Olympiad Online

ILALARGA ng Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers of the Philippines, Inc. (IIEE) ang pagdaraos ng first online chess tournament na tinampukang “N1 IIEE Chess Olympiad 2020” mula Setyembre 11 hanggang Oktubre 30, 2020 sa isang LiChess Team Battle at masisilayan sa resulta sa chess-results.com. Ang tournament ay tampok ang 20 teams all over the Philippines at 6 team mula Middle East Asia.
Ang usual event na IIEE Basketball ay na-postponed dahil sa coronavirus at dahil sa effort ni Chess Tournament director Norberto De Jesus, 2019 IIEE Bulacan Chapter President, NFCP/Fide Arbiter Richard Dela Cruz at overseer Allan Alvarez ay isasagawa ang first ever chess tournament ng IIEE National. Kagapay din ang IIEE National na kinabibilangan nina Lyndon Bague, Roland Vasquez, Feliciano Padua, Alberto Herrera at Joseph Solicar. Bahagi rin sila sa appeal board kasama sina Team Captains Siegmund Sanchez, Eric Frigillana at Karlycris Clarito. Ang event ay hosted ng IIEE Central Laguna.
Ang distinguished players ay gagabayan nina National Masters Robert Arellano (IIEE CRCSA) at Dennis Gutierrez (IIEE Bulacan). Tampok din si Patrick Erl (IIEE Metro South), kapatid nina NMs Joey at Paolo Florendo. Ang iba pang teams ay gagabayan ng NCFP/Fide rated players at rising stars ng IIEE Chess Club.
Ipapatupad ang time control sa lahat ng games na 15 minutes plus one-second increment. Gaganapin simultaneously tuwing Friday, 8pm mula September 11, 2020. Bago ang awarding ceremony sa October 30, 2020, may special 5-round swiss tournament, 5+1, na lalaruin ng IIEE lady chess players.
Sa quote ni US President Benjamin Franklin “Chess is so interesting in itself, as not to need the view of gain to induce engaging in it; and thence it is never played for money,” hence the award are precious artworks from an artist Engineer Yel Cast who will immortalize the prestige of the winners for this momentous event.
“This event coincides with the IIEE 45th year anniversary and the annual virtual mid-year convention of the institute headed by IIEE Natl. President is Rod Pecolera. This event will not be possible with the usual support of sponsors on IIEE sports.
