PTV News was the flagship evening news program of People’s Television Network owned by the Government of the Philippines and founded in 1974 and all journalists are part of history whether it’s reporting on local and international news.
Aminado si Gani na there were even times that he went beyond his routine schedule in an aim to provide positive results pronto or lighten whatever the burden of those who come to him.
Kwento pa ng batikang news anchor, “It was in 1987 when he discovered that he has the nose for news after covering police beat as radyo patrol reporter. Oro worked at ABS-CBN and stayed there for almost 10 years.
But Gani neither complains nor falters a bit in his passion towards work. “As long as I have the voice, there’s a microphone in front of me and a number of people who are there to listen then I’ll go on with my work as (radio) announcer and continue doing public service because I enjoy what I do”, says Gani who joined the broadcast media 30 years ago.
“In a newscast program, the foremost duty is to tell the truth and it ends there right after the show but in public service (format), you must have the heart to help because your obligation doesn’t stop when the show ends. We need to do some follow-up or we try to find the right contact person in some cases.”
With that, CMMA (Catholic Mass Media Awards) awarded “Aksyon Oro Mismo” as the Best Public Service Radio Program. Gani gives credit to the production team that keeps the show way ahead its competition.
“We always innovate and try our best to keep a balance of everything — from public service to news and entertainment. We do public service in a most diplomatic way, “di ako basta bumabanat, inaalam ko muna lahat hanggang legalidad kung kailangan. Of course, there are cases that we can’t find solution due to some legalities”.
From GMA-DZBB, Gani transferred to CNN Philippines to host “Serbisyo All Access”.
Gani is currently the main anchor of “On the Go” program over DWIZ 882 @5:30 to 7:00pm Monday to Friday and co-anchor of PTV-4’s afternoon newscast “Sentro Balita” with Angelique Lazo. (Anne Venancio)
